Cross-window Drag and Drop

This feature was built to make multi-monitor and side-by-side reading more efficient for radiologists. A single drag-and-drop action replaces the tedious process of finding and reloading a series in a second window.
What it is
You can now drag a series from a viewport in one window and drop it into a viewport in another window. Both windows have to be open on the same study.
What it does
Drag any series from the series bar of one window onto a viewport in another window. A copy of the series loads in the target viewport, and the source window keeps its original. Nothing is moved or closed, so both windows keep their current layouts.
Value and use in a clinical setting
Radiologists who read on more than one monitor often spread a study across several windows. For example, axial images sit on one screen while reformats or other sequences sit on another.
Before this feature, loading a series in a second window meant dragging from that window's own series bar. Now the series can go exactly where it's needed in one motion. This makes side-by-side work easier, such as:
- comparing pre- and post-contrast phases
- matching an MPR to its source axial series
- placing another MR sequence next to a related one
How it affects the physician workflow
- Fewer steps: one drag replaces finding and reloading the series in the second window.
- Nothing lost: because the series is copied, the source window stays as it was, so you don't have to rebuild it.
- Easier multi-monitor setups: each screen can be arranged for the task at hand, which cuts down on clicking through hanging protocols during the read.
- Nothing new to learn: it works like the drag-and-drop radiologists already use inside a single window.
